In 1976 Antonino "Nino" Russo moved from Carini, Sicily to East Windsor, New Jersey to live with his uncle, Sal Scavo and work in his uncle’s NY-Style Pizzeria, Sal's Pizza. Under the tutelage of Uncle Sal, Nino learned (and mastered) the art of NY-Style pizza making. From the late 1970’s to the mid 1980’s, the Scavo family opened 13 NY-Style Pizzerias across the Country. In 1982, Nino and his wife, Elena, along with lifelong friend, Vincenzo "Vinny" Buzzetta, relocated to Ohio to take over operation of Picnic Pizza, one of the original 13 Scavo family owned NY-Style Pizzerias. Nino has continued to operate Picnic Pizza for over 42-years, where he passed the techniques learned from Uncle Sal down to his Sons, Vincent and Anthony Russo.

Vincent and Anthony Russo are the proprietors of Tony & Enzo's Pizzeria. Vincent is an attorney and entrepreneur. He formerly practiced law in Ohio for over 10-years before stepping away from his practice to focus on operating several family businesses. Anthony is an executive chef, having earned his associate’s and bachelor's degrees from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America. He was previously the chef at a small Italian restaurant in the Cleveland area, and then the executive chef at the Zanesville Country Club for over 10-years before opening his first restaurant. The brothers have operated several businesses within the hospitality industry over the years, including food trucks, a catering company, a pizzeria, and a restaurant and bar. The Tony & Enzo's concept represents a return to their family roots for the brothers.

In preparing to open Tony & Enzo's, Vincent and Anthony spent several years researching novel pizza making techniques, products and equipment. They have blended these novel techniques, products, and equipment with traditional NY-Style pizza making methods and the wisdom imparted by their father and his uncle. The brothers believe that their efforts have generated some truly fantastic products that they are excited to share with Gahanna and the Greater Columbus Community.
